Teach Aerial Arts: Aerial-ARts Teacher Training Certification (ATTC)
Learn how to teach aerial arts apparatus classes with confidence, safety, and to all levels of artists.
You will train one-on-one on multiple apparatus and with an experienced instructor. This certification is aimed at teaching you how to safely share the art of aerial acrobatics and dance.
You will learn:
anatomy
verbal cues on the floor and in the air
apparatus rigging and safety
apparatus specific terminology and cueing
creative sequencing for all levels
class management
warm ups/cool downs
safe spotting techniques
how to build curriculum and themes for classes
Safe practice
Safety in an aerial practice is one of the most important aspects of being a good teacher. Teaching students off the ground is extremely empowering but an incredible responsibility. We will learn how to maintain a safe environment from rigging to policies and procedures.
Learn how to spot a student safely, for both you and the student. Learn how the body works in an aerial practice with applied anatomy for the aerialist. Learn how to build safe relationships with your students and how to foster safe physical growth when emotions can get in the way.
the class
There are many ways to build and create a fun, effective aerial class. Sometimes it’s hard to choose because there are so many options. We will discuss how to build a class, theme a class, structure a workshop, and conduct private sessions.
You will learn how to build a class curriculum for several different types of classes. You will learn how to develop your teaching process and develop methods and strategies for an engaging class.
Apparatus
There are so many fun aerial apparatus to work on, and while they all have similarities in application, they are all extremely different. You will learn the basic fundamentals of the apparatus of choice:
Silks
Sling
Lyra
Pole
Once you have a basic understanding of your core apparatus, you will be able to approach any apparatus with confidence to learn apparatus specific and more advanced skills.
Add on additional apparatus:
After completing your apparatus training (the full 3 month training focusing on one apparatus), you can add on a one month immersion of a new apparatus for $300.
Choose to learn a new apparatus at any time after you complete your certification.
Pricing and Structure
Three month training: $300 per month (set up as recurring, automatic payment) or $900 up front.
Required texts will be an additional cost. Cost will vary, but plan on budgeting an extra $150 - $200 for text books.
Complete 4 class observations.
Complete 4 practice teachings.
How it works
Over the course of your scheduled training, you will meet with your Mentor weekly for discussion and training sessions. Meetings can be scheduled at your convenience (frequency & times). Your training schedule can be flexed and fluctuate to suit your schedule.
